Juliana Stein is the drag queen alter-ego of Jonathan Brandt, a student from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. She has been making music since 2006. Her debut album, Risque Behavior, was released in 2007. This debut was mainly spoken word. Her second album, Cellophane Telephone,experimented with textures, layers, samples, and juicy synthesizers, parodying popular music from the past couple of years and creating her own experimental works. With ADSR, Juliana "grows up," moving away from the parodies and humor and traveling instead through a journey of covers, remixes, and instrumental works. Her own genre continues to evolve, moving from pure electronic to a mix of ambient, pop, and IDM using a variety of synthesizers and samples.
After several years of music-making and outgrowing her hardware, Juliana spent 1.6 grand on new equipment. Forkbomb EP shows off these new acquisitions with far more complicated synthesizers and effects, and a more free sound.
-About the Tracks-
-Lamia was written for a class project, and is one of Juliana's best original works, utilizing original lyrics, instruments, and sophisticated vocals.
-Juliana's remix of the Little Boots track Earthquake was created for a competition run by Little Boots.
-Ethel & Gertrude is a re-imagining of a track she first wrote in 2007.
-Headlock was first a track by Imogen Heap; in this version, Imogen's lyrics take on a completely new quality.
